Characteristics of Atmospheric-boundary-layer Height and Its Relationship with Sand-dust Weather in Jiuquan of Gansu Province

甘肃酒泉地区大气边界层高度变化特征及其与沙尘天气的关系

Abstract:  Based on the second data of L-band radar soundings and surface observations at Jiuquan station of Gansu Province from 2009 to 2018, the atmospheric-boundary-layer(ABL)heights were calculated by using the dry adiabatic method, potential temperature gradient method, and Richardson number method. The variation of the ABL heights and relationships between ABL height and wind-sand weather were analyzed as well. The results are as follows: (1) The dry adiabatic curve method was the best one among three methods mentioned above, which could reflect the true situations of the ABL height in Jiuquan of Gansu Province. (2) The annual average height of the ABL was 1933 m, and it presented a downward trend with an average decline rate of 9 m·a-1. (3) The monthly average of the ABL height showed a “single peak” distribution, with the highest average height in May (3176 m),and the lowest average height in December (684 m). The extremely deep ABL over 5000 m mainly occurred in April and May. (4) The ABL height was closely related to maximum temperature, lowest temperature, 0 cm ground temperature and sunshine hours, the ABL height increased with the dust intensity from March to October.

摘要: 基于酒泉2009—2018年L波段探空雷达秒数据及地面常规观测资料,采用干绝热曲线法、位温梯度法和Richardson法分别计算该地区大气边界层高度,分析大气边界层高度的变化特征及其与沙尘天气的关系。结果表明:(1)干绝热曲线法计算的大气边界层高度更能反映酒泉大气边界层的真实情况;(2)近10 a酒泉年平均大气边界层高度为1933 m,总体呈下降趋势,气候倾向率为-9 m·a-1;(3)月平均大气边界层高度呈“单峰型”分布,5月最高(3176 m),12月最低(684 m),总体呈现春夏高、秋冬低的季节变化特征,超过5000 m的极端深厚大气边界层主要出现在4—5月;(4)大气边界层高度与日最高气温、日最低气温、0 cm地温、日照时数等呈显著正相关,3—10月,大气边界层高度与沙尘强度呈正比,4月沙尘暴和扬沙天气的平均大气边界层高度均大于3 000 m。
