Based on conventional ground data, sounding data, wind profile radar data and pollutant data from environmental monitoring stations, a continuous and heavy pollution weather occurring during November 7-11, 2015 in Shenyang was analyzed, and the main characteristics were summarized as follows: (1) The pollution weather maintained a long time, the concentration of PM2.5 was more than 500 μg·m-3 for nearly 21 hours, and its’ maximum was 1 287.83 μg·m-3 during the period. The main pollution component was CO. (2) Straight zonal circulation, weak cyclonic circulation and high humidity conditions provided advantage meteorological conditions for the heavy pollution weather developing and lasting, and temperature being around 0 ℃ for a long time was also a main feature during the heavy pollution weather process. (3) From the ground to 850 hPa height, the average horizontal wind speed was close to 2 m·s-1, the whole atmosphere stratification was in stable static with high moisture conditions and existence of temperature inversion, which inhibited the vertical transportation of pollutants. (4) Satellite remote sensing monitoring showed there were a lot of fire points in Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces, and it was the time of straw burning. The atmospheric trajectory analysis also showed the northerly winds provided favorable weather conditions for pollutants transportation.
